 EXAM RULES
Written examination followed by a programming project. The written part consists of 4 questions: 2 regarding the first 1/3 of the course and 2 regarding the second 1/3 of the course. The students are encouraged to take the written part in the midterm written part (given at the end of the first 1/3 of the course) and the final-term written part (given at the end of the second 1/3 of the course). The average of this two intermediate written exams substitutes the written part of the exams for the January-February session, otherwise the student can take the regular written part (4 questions) later. The evaluation includes a group project (1/3 of the mark), since the last 1/3 of the course covers parallel programming aspects. The group should consist of two or three people maximum and involves programming by using one or more paradigms developed in that part of the course. The working source code and a short report are required to assess such project.
 Notes on the final PROJECT
  • The final project is MANDATORY. the project title (and related abstract) must be booked at least 3 weeks before the exam date.
 NOTES
  • Both in the written and oral exams (but also in the projects) the student is mainly required to show his/her detailed understanding of the topic, at least at the level shown by the teacher during the lesson. It's greatly appreciated the capacity of reasoning on the problem, rather than a mechanical (pedant) description of the topic.
  • In case of written exercise, we mainly look at the correctness of the solution (in terms of numbers) and a very short justification of the chosen way to carry out the exercise (lengthy general wording is completely unnecessary).
  • In case of oral question, the topic is typically one of the concepts illustrated during the lesson. Elements that are required are, for instance: the proof of the concept/theorem, precise schematic of the system, detailed behavior and functioning, reasons why this solution is used in the real-world.
